The Salasar Balaji temple is dedicated to the child form of lord Hanuman. It is said that the idol that has been placed there is nor carved by any murti artist. The main idol is said to be swayambhu which means that the idol has been self-created. This temple holds a lot of religious significance in hindu pilgrimage.
The Hanuman ji idol here is the only idol that is seen with a mustache and a beard. There are annually two fairs that are conducted in the temple premises on two occasions one is hanuman jayanti and the other is sharad purnima. The temple receives a lot of footfall all year around.
There is a story that is very famous and is considered as the reason behind the construction of the temple. The story says that there was a farmer who had found this murti while ploughing his field and at the same time his wife had come to the field with the farmer’s lunch. When she saw the balaji murti, she immediately made a bajra churma and as a prasad offered it to god.
So this is how the bajra churma is being offered as prasad to Salasar Balaji at the Salasar Balaji temple. It is said that when this murti was found by the farmer, the same night the king ahad got a dream in which Hanuman ji had ordered him to build a temple and place that exact same idol in the temple. So this is how the Salasar Balaji temple was constructed and renovated over time.
