Rani Sati temple is said to have a lot of historic significance from the time of Mahabharata. It is said that when Abhimanyu was killed in the kurukshetra ground after being deceived and being unarmed, his wife Uttara wanted to perform Sati but was stopped by the elders of the family as she was pregnant and performing sati whole being pregnant is considered as a sin. Therefore she had attained a blessing from Lord Krishna, that in the upcoming rebirth years she should be married to Abhimanyu and lead a happy life as a married women and incase her husband dies in any circumstance, then she should be allowed to perform Sati on her husband’s pyre. As she was blessed with this blessing, she and Abhimanyu took a rebirth in a bania caste of Aggarwal clan and got married to each other at a very young age.
They lead a happy life until one day after a fight with the king’s son and the king himself, Tandhani, husband of Narayani (Uttara and Abhimanyu) was killed by the king and the latter was killed by Narayani. This led to Narayani attaining Sati and asking the horse keeper Rana ji to take off the horse which was loved so much by her husband. It is said that Narayani ji then blessed Rana ji and said that his name will be added to hers wherever she will be worshipped. Therefore the name Rani Sati Ji. There are many legends on the Rani Sati temple and all of these stories tell a different story related to the death and sati of Rani Sati ji.
