Galtaji Temple

Details

Galtaji Temple is a huge magnificent pinkstone structure that was built by Diwan Rao Kriparan a courtier in the royal courtyard of Sawai Jai Singh II. It is said that there was a saint named Galtav had been meditating for long years in this cave at the Aravalli hills without any disturbance. After seeing his dedicated devotion and undisturbed meditation, all the gods and goddesses were impressed by him and appeared in front of him and blessed that particular place with abundance of water.

Hence there are kunds that are filled with water from the oasis that flow from the top of the mountains and also fill the tanks at the temple. It is said that the devotees take a holy dip in these kunds during Makar Sankranti. The most surprising thing about these kunds or tanks is that they never run dry and are a natural oasis. The best time to visit the temple is between October to March.

There is a large crowd that visits the temple in January during the Makar Sankranti festival. If you want to have a beautiful view to the temple, then you should visit the temple in the evening hours as you will see the monkeys at the temple going to the kunds for a bath and the sight is worth visiting and enjoying.

Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan

Timings for Darshan: 6am to 9pm all days of the year.

Nearby places to visit:

Krishnaji Mandir

It is situated in the Galtaji Mandir complex and is a highly visited site by the vaishnavas and the ISKCON group. The rules and offerings that are followed at the temple are very similar to the ISKCON group. The temple is called the Shri Gyan Gopali Ji temple. When visiting the Galtaji temple, make sure that you visit this Krishna temple.

Sitaramji Temple

It is a temple that is dedicated to Lord Ram and has a lot of monkeys surrounding the temple. This is a temple that should be visited by all devotees once they are inside the Galtaji temple complex. This temple has a small hanuman ji temple on the entrance of the sitaram ji temple and all the devotees who visit this temple cannot be oblivious to the monkeys that are present in the premises. So if you are willing to go to  Galtaji temple for the holy dip and pay homage to the lord, then you should definitely visit the other temples that have been built in the temple complex.
