Bhartihari temple is located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. This temple has many ancient stories that are associated with the idol of the temple. It is said that the temple is built on the samadhi of King turned priest Shri Bhartar who was the ruler of Ujjain. The question that arises is if he was ruler of Ujjain, then what was he doing here in Rajasthan as a priest or sadhu? Let me tell you the story. Since there are many stories related to the king turning into a priest or sadhu, the one story that is mostly followed is that a brahmin has once gotten a fruit from the Kalpavriksha and given it to the king, he has then on passed it on to his wife who later gave it to someone else and the fruit was passed on to the king and he was upset of the infidelity done by his wife. Seeing this he gave up his kingdom and went on to become a sadhu who meditated in the Aravalli ranges and later buried himself alive in the same exact place where the temple stands.

If you are someone who is into meditation and wants a calm environment to meditate then you should definitely visit this place for the beautiful serene nature, waterfall and the lush green surroundings. The other attraction of this place is that it celebrates all the festivals of Lord Shiva and there is a fair held in the month of Bhadrapada. This temple is known to have fulfilled wishes of many devotees and hence it receives footfall all year around.

Location: Alwar, Rajasthan

Time to visit: 24 hours open from sunrise to sunset.

Nearby places to visit:

1 City Palace of Alwar–  This palace is a perfect blend of mughal and rajput traditions. The palace has an artificial lake in the vicinity. There is a raised door pavilion which honours the rajput kingdoms. This palace has three floors out of which the ground floor is occupied by the government officials and the other two floors are turned into a museum in which the weapons, the war history and the bravery tales are mentioned and displayed. So when you visit Alwar, make sure that you definitely visit this city palace.

2 Moti Doongri– This is a place where the Alwar’s royal family could come and relax. This place is a blend of culture and heritage where it presents the grandeur of the palace along with the history of the rulers. This palace is a must visit when you come to Alwar to experience the royalty and the grandness of the place.

After taking a trip to Alwar and exploring all the tourist attractions at this place, I suggest you take a trip to Udaipur which is 590 kms away from Alwar. Udaipur is a place where you will get the pure oldschool, aesthetic vibe and experience the royal culture and tradition of this palace as the current royal family is still residing in this city. When you travel to Udaipur, you have to look for a place that is luxurious, budget friendly and also near to nature. While you look for all these characteristics in a particular hotel, you would hardly find any property fitting this category.

Hence, we have got you covered. All you have to do is; you have to search for the name Goya Hills Villa. This is a 3 BHK luxury villa in Udaipur which can be rented. You will get services 24*7 and also have a private jacuzzi all to yourself. To know more, kindly contact us on 91 9024082177 or send us a mail on info@goya-hills.com.
