Baneshwar temple is situated in the Dungarpur district of Rajasthan. This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. It is said that this idol was not made or carved, it is a swayambhu idol which means that the shivalinga had self erupted at that place. The place where this temple is situated has two rivers flowing together. These rivers are River Mahi and Som. This temple is situated on a five feet high rock and is divided in five parts. This Vishnu temple was built by the daughter in law of Mavji who was considered as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. There are two other temples next to it one is Laxmi Narayan temple which was constructed by the disciples of Mavji and the other temple is the Burma temple.
