This is a dargah that is located in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. This Ajmer Sharif Dargah was built in remembrance of Khawaja Moinuddin Chesti a persian saint. He is believed to be a descendant of Muhammad and he had come to India after the orders of Muhammad. It is said that the persian saint stayed here in Ajmer and spread his teachings and knowledge amongst the people of Alwar.
It is believed that he stayed here from 1196 to 1236 AD. He passed away here and his tomb was then made here to worship him. The Ajmer Sharif Dargah complex was built many years later by Sultan Mahmud Khalji of Malwa. He had constructed all the external structures and buildings which can be seen in the present building.
This Ajmer Sharif Dargah is open to people from all faiths. It is said that if you come here and ask for something from your whole heart, then it is for sure going to be fulfilled. The architecture of the Dargah is a perfect example of Indo-Islamic construction where there has been a use of white marbles along with decorations of colour silver and gold. Daughter of Shah Jahan has constructed a room for the ladies to come here and pray.
