Hawa Mahal

The literal meaning of Hawa Mahal is “Airy Palace”. It is one of the most popularly visited locations of Jaipur by the royals and the common people who are the tourists. The front of the hawa mahal has small windows like openings through the walls which serve as an air conditioner which allows the air to pass and circulate in the whole of the palace. The breeze that follows through the palace is cool and soothing which is perfect for the scorching heat and the merciless sun. The women of the royal family are not allowed to venture outside without their head being covered from the pallu of their poshaks or the saree; for them to witness the city through those veils was difficult, hence they all visit the Hawa Mahal in order to get a glimpse of the outside city life apart from the royal life they are leading through those little small windows. So if you ever visit Jaipur and plan to visit City Palace, then make sure that you definitely make it a stop before heading anywhere else.

Most of the lakes in Rajasthan are artificially built, there might be some lakes which are built naturally. However, the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur does not come under any of these headings because the water which it holds is the result of the dam made on the RIver Darbawati. This water body holds significant water levels to help the city cope with their water needs for irrigation and agriculture. This lake is home to various migratory birds, and is a support system to the aqualogical life holdings like fishes, insects, birds, etc. It is also famous for the in-built Jal Mahal in the middle of the lake.
