Rajasthan was initially known as Rajputana and was formed by the merger of 19 princely states and was renamed as Rajasthan, which means the “place of kings.” The Make of Rajasthan is hysterically divided into 7 phases. Firstly, the Matsya Union, which merged Dholpur, Alwar, Bharatpur, and Karauli on 17 March 1948. After this, the Rajasthan Union, with the merge of Tonk, Bundi, Kota, Jhalawar, Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, Kishangarh, and Shahapura on 25 March 1948. The third stage of integration was of Udaipur state in the year 1948, specifically named as the United States of Rajasthan. After this, the greater Rajasthan was formed, which merged Jodhpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner on 30th March 1949.
On this day, many cultural activities are organised in Jaipur, which is the capital of Rajasthan. This is now commonly known as Rajasthan Foundation Day. After this, these unions merged and formed the final origination of Rajasthan as per the States Reorganisation Act of 1956.
