Bet Dwarka is an archipelago that is located in the gateway of the Gulf of Kutch. This segment of land was presented to Lord Krishna by his closest friend Sudama. This island is 2 km away from the coast of the town of Okha, Gujarat. Another name of Bet Dwarka is “Shankhodhar”. This name is given to the island because there are numerous conch shells found here.
Bet Dwarka is contemplated to be the heavenly abode of Lord Krishna and his family. It is stated in the ancient Puranas that this piece of land was earlier known as “Antar Dwipa”. The Yadav present in the Dwapar yug used to travel to Bet Dwarka by boats. - Hanuman Dandi– Bet Dwarka also has a small temple of Lord Hanuman. There are two idols that are present inside the temple. The first idol is of Lord Hanuman and the second idol is of his Makardhwaja. There is a strong belief which has been circulated since the past centuries that there was once a fish which drank one drop of sweat of Lord Hanuman and then delivered Makardhwaja.
- Abhay Mata Mandir– This is a small temple that is situated in the southernmost part of Bet Dwarka. Devotees worship Abhay Mata for her fearlessness and protection from evil. The temple’s location at the seashore gives the devotees a beautiful, serene view from the temple premises.
- Other Religious Shrines– There are other numerous temples that are present in Bet Dwarka which are dedicated to Rukmini Ji, Radhika Ji, Laxmi Narayan Ji, etc. These temples also hold the same significance like any other temple at Bet Dwarka.
