Rohit Sharma grew up in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in a middle-class Telugu-speaking household. He has a mother, Purnima Sharma, who stays at home and a father, Gurunath Sharma, who works as a caretaker at a transport firm. Due to financial difficulties, Rohit was raised in Borivali, Mumbai, by his grandparents and uncle.
