History of Jagdish Mandir:
Jagdish Mandir has a rich past during the rule of the Mughals and their march towards the conquering of all the regions under Indian rulers. One such place is Udaipur. Udaipur has a past of never surrendering in front of their enemies and fighting till their last breath. This temple is said to be built by Maharana Jagat Singh in the year of 1651. If the stories are to be believed, it is said that the then ruler of Mewar, Jagat Singh was a huge devotee of Lord Jagannath and would always want to be serving the deity and fulfilling his karmas.
Since he was such a big devotee, Lord Jagannath had come in his dreams and asked him to build this mandir and worship him here rather than leaving for the holy city of Puri,Odisha where the deity resides. Following the advice and orders of the lord Vishnu, this temple was built next to the City Palace where the royal family resides. Jagdish mandir was constructed on a raised terrace out of white marble with 32 steep stairs built at the entrance of the temple.
The main idol is made out of one single black stone and has been ever since adorned with gold and silver and all the other necessary decorations. This temple had been occupied and destroyed by Aurangazeb when he had come to war with the rulers of Mewar and the other regions. Due to the firm stances taken by the kings and their counterparts, the army of Aurangazeb had faced defeat and Aurangazeb was then left this region to his son Akbar. However, the temple was restored and the damaged part of the temple was re-constructed and the carvings done on the temple walls also redone. The temple was constructed in the Indo-aryan style which makes the temple the largest temple in Udaipur.

Summer Timings- Morning- 5 am- 2:30 pm.
Evening- 4 pm- 10:30 pm.
Winter Timings- Morning- 5:30 am- 2:30 pm.
Evening- 4 pm-10 pm.

There is another Vishnu temple near Udaipur which is 46 kms away from Udaipur. This temple is again the most famous and visited temples by the locals and the tourists. The name of the mandir is “Shri Nathji ”. This temple is made in honour of Lord Krishna ji who is considered as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The idol that is kept in the temple and is worshipped so gracefully and lovingly is considered to have appeared from the Govardhan Hill in Vrindavan. Therefore, the idol of Krishna ji is worshipped in Vrindavan, Agra and in Nathdwara.
History of the Nathdwara Temple:
Since the idol had reappeared in Govardhan Hills, one of the cow herds had taken the idol to his house and worshipped lord Krishna which is now a spiritual site to visit. During the invasion of mughal rulers in India, the idol was shifted from Vrindavan to Agra and then further to the Mewar region which is currently known as Nathdwara. Shri Nath ji is majorly worshipped by the people of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Bhatias amongst the others. The rich culture of the place and the temple depicts all the practices and seva done by the priests for Shri Nathji.
