What is Pushkar Mela?

The Pushkar Mela is an annual event held in the town of Pushkar, which is in the Ajmer District. This fair blends rural livestock trading, cultural vibes and sacred pilgrimage. If we talk about its history, it initially began with the trading of cattle, horses and camels. Farmers, traders and herders bring their animals to the desert market to sell them or showcase them. Over time this tradition evolved into an impressive cultural and tourism spectacle. Folk music, decorating animals, competitions and craftsmanship became a common part of this event. This year the festival starts from 30th october to 5th november. Pushkar fair comes under the list of the largest camel and livestock fairs in India, making it an attractive spot for both international and domestic travellers. It is truly an experience of desert heritage, culture, commerce and celebration.
