During an IPL 2025 game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah of the Mumbai Indians celebrates taking Heinrich Klaasen’s wicket for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
IPL 2025 Standings, Team Rankings, Top Batters, Top Bowlers, and Points Table Update for Today: Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their fifth game of the season, further sinking into the abyss as the Mumbai Indians pulled off two straight victories. Although a high-scoring game was anticipated at Wankhede, the pitch had other ideas as the batsmen found it difficult to get into a rhythm.
Hyderabad was supposed to pick up the pace after chasing 245 in their last game, but Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma got off to a poor start by their standards until Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma closed the innings with some huge smashes. Hyderabad was limited to 162/5, though, and was still unable to reach 200 runs.
With the help of Ryan Rickelton (31), Rohit Sharma (26), Will Jacks (36) and Suryakumar Yadav (26), Mumbai easily reached the goal while chasing. With brisk knocks of 21 apiece, Tilak Verma and Hardik Pandya would also contribute as the five-time winners prevailed by five wickets but maintained their seventh-place finish. The Sunrisers, however, were stuck at ninth place. Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants still are 1st and 2nd while Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings are 3rd and 4th. The Chennai Kings and Rajasthan Royals are ranked eighth and tenth, respectively, while the Lucknow Super Giants are ranked fifth, followed by the Kolkata Knight Riders at number six.
Suryakumar Yadav of MI rose to fourth place in the Orange Cap competition with his knock on Thursday, while Nicholas Pooran of LSG and Sai Sudharsan of GT are now ranked first and second, respectively. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer is ranked fifth, and Mitchell Marsh of LSG is ranked third.
Hardik Pandya of MI earned a spot in the Top 5 in the Purple Cap race, finishing an impressive fourth. Noor Ahmad of CSK continues to be the dominant player, followed by Kuldeep Yadav of DC. Khaleel Ahmed of CSK is ranked third, and Shardul Thakur of LSG is ranked fifth.
