In the aftermath of the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left 26 civilians dead, Union Home Minister Amit Shah issued a firm and impassioned response. Speaking publicly for the first time since the April 22 attack, Shah declared that every individual involved in the killing would face strict retribution, reaffirming the Indian government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
“Jo bhi Pahalgam mein yeh ghatna anjaam deke gaya hai, woh bacha nahi rahega. Har vyakti ko chun chun ke jawab diya jayega,” Shah stated, meaning, “Those who committed this barbaric act in Pahalgam will not be spared. Each one will be hunted down and held accountable.”
“This Is Modi’s India – Terror Will Not Be Tolerated”
Addressing a large public gathering, Amit Shah stressed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will no longer tolerate threats to its internal security. The Home Minister emphasized that this is a new India, strong in will and committed to eliminating terrorism from its soil.
“This is not the India of the past. Under Modi ji’s leadership, our nation has changed. We do not bow to fear or violence. Those who think they can destabilize India with bullets and bombs are gravely mistaken,” he said.
Terror Attack in Tourist Haven
The deadly assault occurred in Baisaran Valley, a popular tourist destination known for its picturesque landscapes, often dubbed “Mini Switzerland.” On that day, armed militants suddenly opened fire on a group of tourists, causing panic and devastation in the open fields with no safe shelter. Most victims were civilians, including out-of-state tourists, making the act even more shocking.
This incident is considered the worst terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, which removed the region’s special status. The method of targeting non-locals and unarmed civilians suggests a disturbing pattern meant to instill fear and disturb peace in the valley.
Operation Hunt Launched Across South Kashmir
In response to the attack, Indian security agencies have launched a comprehensive search operation across South Kashmir. According to official reports, more than 2,800 individuals have been questioned, and over 150 people detained, including suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs) believed to have aided the terrorists.
Investigations point toward Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) as the group behind the attack, with operational support traced to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is using advanced methods like satellite phone analysis, tower dumps, and 3D reconstructions of the crime scene to trace the movement and planning of the attackers.
India’s Multi-Front Response: Military, Diplomatic, and Strategic
While Shah stopped short of directly naming Pakistan, he made it clear that India will respond decisively to any nation supporting terrorism. He referenced diplomatic moves like the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, signaling a broader strategy that includes economic, geopolitical, and military countermeasures.
“This is not just a war fought with guns,” he said. “It is a war for justice, dignity, and national sovereignty. And we will respond across all fronts—military, diplomatic, and strategic.”
International Support for India’s Fight Against Terror
Shah also mentioned that several world leaders and international bodies have expressed solidarity with India. Nations across the globe have condemned the attack and pledged support in India’s battle against terrorism.
“Not only 140 crore Indians, but the whole world stands with us in this fight,” he stated. “The message is clear: terrorism has no place in any civilized society.”
A Nation United Against Terror
Shah’s words were more than just a political message—they were a call to national unity. Emphasizing that the government, military, and people are united in this fight, he vowed that terrorism would be completely eradicated, no matter how long the struggle takes.
“Since the 1990s, terrorism has taken countless innocent lives in Kashmir. But now, with political will, military strength, and public support, we are on the offensive. The fight will continue until we remove terrorism from every inch of our land.”
