At home, there was a lot of sports, so cricket was a natural fit for Riyan.
He had extraordinary skill with the bat and the ball from an early age. By the age of twelve, he was playing for Assam’s U-16 squad after starting official training early. He stood out from his peers due to his inherent confidence and all-around skills.
Domestic Career
At the age of 15, Riyan made his T20 debut for Assam in the Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament of 2016–17. He immediately rose to prominence for Assam thanks to his outstanding age-group cricket achievements.
He made his List A debut in 2017 and quickly followed it up with strong first-class cricket performances. He developed into a reliable all-round player over time in domestic competitions like as the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
His versatility as a middle-order batsman, part-time leg-spinner, and fielder made him an important member of Assam’s team and brought him recognition on the international scene.
International Career
Under Prithvi Shaw’s leadership, Riyan was a member of India’s 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup-winning team. Despite playing a little part, the publicity set the stage for his future development.
He played a crucial part in the final match against Pakistan A in 2023 while playing for India A in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. He took two wickets in two deliveries to help India win.
On July 6, 2024, he played his first Twenty20 International match for India against Zimbabwe. On August 7, 2024, he played his first One-Day International match against Sri Lanka. Despite being in the early stages of his international career, Riyan has demonstrated promise as a versatile player.

In the 2019 IPL auction, the Rajasthan Royals purchased Riyan. In his first season, he broke records set by Sanju Samson and Prithvi Shaw by being the youngest player (17 years and 175 days) to make a half-century in the IPL.
The Royals supported his skill despite a few patchy seasons, and in 2024–2025, he shown maturity with significant innings and better bowling. He has participated in more than 70 IPL games as of April 2025, amassing over 1,280 runs and using his leg-spin to take vital wickets.
He is a favourite with Royals supporters because of his self-assurance, flamboyance, and game awareness.
Playing Style
An aggressive middle-order batsman, Riyan Parag may produce unconventional and game-changing innings. He is also a skilled fielder and a useful part-time leg-spinner.
He is noted for finishing games under pressure and for bringing enthusiasm, flair, and confidence to the field. He is a great T20 asset because of his ability to take wickets at critical times and score sixes in the last overs.
Personal Life
Sports and discipline were ingrained in Riyan’s family’s everyday routine. He was inspired and guided by his mother’s swimming achievements and his father’s cricket career. In recognition of her husband’s cricketing ambition, which Riyan has started to realise by wearing the Indian jersey, his mother gave him the name “Riyan Parag Das.”
Off the pitch, he is renowned for being grounded, and on social media, he is recognised for being a fun-loving individual. Riyan frequently updates his family and friends on glimpses of his workouts, matchday preparations, and leisure time.

Legacy and Future Prospects
Riyan Parag has already made his mark on IPL history and made his debut on the global stage at the age of 23. His transformation from a young child in Guwahati to one of India’s most promising all-round players is a motivational tale of opportunity and skill colliding.
In India’s white-ball setup, Riyan may develop into a long-term potential if he keeps growing in maturity and consistency. This Assamese powerhouse appears to have a bright future thanks to his brave attitude and diverse skill set.
