Director A.R. Murugadoss’s 2025 Indian Hindi-language action drama “Sikandar” stars Salman Khan in the lead role, with Rashmika Mandanna and Sathyaraj also in the film.
Plot Summary:
The movie chronicles the life of Sanjay Rajkot, also known as Sikandar (Salman Khan), the adored and kind monarch of Rajkot. Sikandar is adored by his subjects and renowned for his wise counsel, just governance, and unflinching dedication to his realm. His loyal wife Saisri Rajkot (Rashmika Mandanna), who serves as both his life partner and a compass for his choices, is his greatest source of strength. They are regarded as the perfect royal couple and are guiding Rajkot into a period of prosperity and tranquilly.
Their world is upended, though, when Sikandar meets Minister Pradhan’s (Sathyaraj) haughty and power-hungry son, Arjun Pradhan (Prateik Babbar). In this interaction, which occurs during a flight, an apparently insignificant argument between the two guys swiftly turns into a furious altercation. Due to the influence of his father, Arjun is accustomed to getting his way and undervalues Sikandar’s intelligence and strength. Sikandar and the powerful Minister Pradhan, a man with secret goals endangering the stability of the kingdom, square off in a clash that stokes a long-standing rivalry.
Saisri’s death in a tragic and unexpected event occurs just as tensions are rising. Sikandar is devastated by her loss and finds it difficult to fill the vacuum she left behind. But as a last gesture of generosity, Saisri’s organs are given to three people in Mumbai, giving them a second chance at life.
When Sikandar finds out, he finds a new reason to be sad. He chooses to find the three organ recipients in remembrance of his late wife’s charitable nature. But what starts off as a sincere endeavour quickly takes a surprising turn when he learns that they are all involved in risky situations. Sikandar understands that his obligation to them extends beyond simple gratitude—it is a continuation of Saisri’s legacy—from a young girl seeking to escape the grip of crime to a dying artist battling corruption.
Sikandar has to use all of his strength, cunning, and bravery to defend people who now carry a piece of his beloved wife within them as he makes his way through Mumbai’s underbelly, unearthing covert plots and fending off threats from Minister Pradhan’s expanding power. By doing this, he sets out on a path that eventually reshapes his fate, tries his fortitude, and challenges his values.
As Sikandar battles not just for justice but also to preserve the memory of his love, the film transports viewers on an incredible journey filled with dramatic action, profound emotional depth, and a stirring tale of love, sorrow, and redemption.
Reception:
When “Sikandar” was released on March 30, 2025, which was Eid al-Fitr, it was met with a mixed reception. The film’s weak premise and boring narrative were criticised by critics, who complimented the action scenes. According to the Times of India, the movie is “let down by a weak plot and a tedious narrative.” According to the Hindustan Times, it’s “one of Salman Khan’s weakest films,” with a drab plot and lacklustre acting.
Box Office Performance:
Sikandar made almost ₹26 crore on its first day of release, which was a good start. However, during the next few days, the movie’s revenue drastically decreased. The total amount collected by day five was approximately 86 crore across India, indicating a decline in daily revenue.
In conclusion, although having powerful action sequences and a dynamic performance by Salman Khan, “Sikandar” was unable to hold the attention of viewers because of its shallow plot and unoriginality.

Budget and recovery:
Sikandar’s budget is ₹200 crores. The movie has made ₹98.18 crores so far, which covers 49.09% of the entire budget. This indicates that ₹101.82 crores must still be made for the movie to break even.
The movie has a good possibility of becoming profitable if it keeps doing well at the box office and through other sources of income including song rights, digital streaming, and satellite rights. Positive word-of-mouth or a sizable second-weekend collection might increase its profits even further.
